Musical Hungary has been launched

Magyarország Kormánya közel 1 milliárd forint vissza nem térítendő támogatással segíti 500 cigányzenész vendéglátóhelyi foglalkoztatását négy hónapon keresztül, így növelve a programban részt vevő vendéglátóhelyek vonzerejét is. A Muzsikáló Magyarország program célja a hagyományos kávéházi cigányzene hagyományainak megőrzése és népszerűsítése. A Kormány összességében mintegy 15 milliárd forint értékű, a turizmus fejlesztését és versenyképességének erősítését célzó ágazati programot indított, ennek első eleme indul el most. A zenekarvezetők április 29-étől jelentkezhetnek a támogatásra.

A magyar kávéházi és hagyományos éttermi cigányzene olyan unikális, vendégélményt növelő turisztikai eszköz, amelynek megőrzése és támogatása kiemelt jelentőséggel bír a hazai turizmus számára. Ezt felismerve javasolta a Magyar Turisztikai Ügynökség (MTÜ) a Magyar Kormány számára a 2018-ban elindított Muzsikáló Magyarország program folytatását.

Az idei összesen 1 milliárd forint értékű Muzsikáló Magyarország 2024 program közel 500 cigányzenész négy havi vendéglátóhelyen történő zenélését teszi lehetővé. Ez idő alatt hetente 4 nap, naponta 3 órán keresztül játszanak a támogatott zenekarok a program során általuk választott vendéglátó üzletekben.

„A vissza nem térítendő támogatással a kormány lényegében átvállalja az éttermi élőzene árát. Bízunk abban, hogy számos vendéglátó üzlet él a Muzsikáló Magyarország 2024 kínálta lehetőséggel, hiszen egy zenekar játéka nem csak az utcáról képes becsalogatni a vendégeket, de olyan élményt nyújt, amelyet örömmel osztanak meg rokonaikkal, barátaikkal is a vendégek. Az élő cigányzene így sikeresen növeli a vendéglátó üzletek vonzerejét. A Programmal így egyaránt nyernek a muzsikusok, a programban résztvevő vendéglátóhelyek, a vendégek, és a hazai turizmus” – emelte ki dr. Guller Zoltán, a Magyar Turisztikai Ügynökség elnöke.

A pályázati felhívásra április 29-étől május 27-éig jelentkezhetnek a 4-6 fős, vonósokból, klarinétosból, cimbalmosból álló cigányzenekarok vezetői és – a vezető útján – a zenekarok tagjai. A folyamat egyszerű és minimális adminisztrációval teljesíthető. A felmerülő kérdések esetén telefonos és e-mailes ügyfélszolgálat is segíti a zenészeket. Az MTÜ ugyanakkor felhívja a figyelmet, hogy érdemes mielőbb elindítani a jelentkezést, mert a keretösszeg kimerülése esetén a pályázatok elbírálását várhatóan felfüggesztik.

A Muzsikáló Magyarország 2024 keretében az MTÜ hagyományteremtő szándékkal Dankó Pista Emléknapot is szervez, amelynek keretében a fővárosba érkező turisták által leglátogatottabb területeken, vendéglátó üzletekben és azok teraszain játszanak majd a támogatást elnyert zenekarok.

The Government of Hungary is supporting the employment of 500 Romani musicians at hospitality establishments for four months with a non-refundable grant of almost HUF 1 billion to help increase the attractiveness of the establishments participating in the programme. The Musical Hungary programme aims to preserve and popularise traditional Romani music in cafés and restaurants. The Government has launched a programme worth about 15 billion forints in total in order to develop tourism and strengthen its competitive edge, and its first phase is starting now. Band leaders can apply for support from 29 April.

Traditional Hungarian Romani music in cafés and restaurants is a unique asset that enhances guests’ experiences, and its preservation and support is of key importance for tourism in Hungary. Recognising this, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (HTA) recommended that the Hungarian Government continue the Musical Hungary programme, which was launched in 2018.

This year the Musical Hungary 2024 programme, worth a total of HUF 1 billion, is making it possible for nearly 500 Romani musicians to play in restaurants for four months. During this period, the supported bands play four days a week, for three hours a day in the hospitality establishments of their choice.

“With this non-refundable support, the government basically covers the cost of live music in restaurants. We trust that many catering establishments will take advantage of the opportunity offered by Musical Hungary 2024, since having bands playing not only attracts diners in from the street but also offers an experience that guests will be sure to share with relatives and friends. Romani music is helping to increase the popularity of catering establishments. The Programme benefits the musicians, the participating restaurants and cafés, the guests, and Hungarian tourism,” pointed out dr. Zoltán Guller, head of the Hungarian Tourism Agency.

From 29 April to 27 May, the call for applications is open for leaders and members of Romani bands with 4-6 musicians, consisting of string players, clarinettists and cimbalom players. The process is simple and can be completed with minimal administration. If the musicians have any questions, they can contact customer service by phone or e-mail for help. HTA recommends that the applications should be submitted as soon as possible because the assessment of applications is likely to be suspended once the budget has been used up.

Within the framework of Musical Hungary 2024 and with the aim of creating tradition, HTA is also organising the Pista Dankó Memorial Day. On this day, the supported bands will play in areas most frequented by tourists visiting Budapest, both inside restaurants and cafés and on their terraces.
